Suryana has a lot to celebrate at the moment, his wife just had a baby, it's his birthday and he surfed through a stacked draw of talented surfers to claim his first ever ASP QS win. Suryana's surfing is perfectly suited to Keramas and fans were treated to a show all week, watching his fast and smooth approach. The Final was an evenly matched affair with Dean Morrison (AUS) taking an early lead until Suryana stole the win with powerful wraps and carves on his last two waves.
“This is an amazing feeling!†Suryana said. “I've done a lot of QS events and I've never made the final, so to win here is so crazy. It's been the best few days, my wife just had a baby and I've won this event on my birthday. I almost didn't come because my wife was having the baby, but she told me to come and do the event and it couldn't have been better.â€

Dean Morrison (AUS), former Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship Tour (WCT) competitor no longer competes full-time, but made a return to the competitive arena this week and ended up with a runner-up finish. Morrison's carves and power surfing were impressive all week, but he failed to get past the in-form Suryana.
“I really didn't think I'd make the final,†Morrison said. “I just came because I'm good mates with all the Mad Hueys boys and I wanted to surf uncrowded Keramas. It was a great week with a lot of fun waves and good times. I've known Dede (Suryana) for a long time, he's a good guy and he was ripping.â€

Rising talents Oney Anwar (IDN) and Mitch Parkinson (AUS) finished equal 3rd after bowing out in the Semifinals. Both surfers were looking sharp all event, unloading big airs and stylish carves in every heat, but couldn't defeat their more experienced counterparts and were forced to watch the final from the sidelines.
The Komune Bali Pro presented by The Mad Hueys offers both ASP QS and Asian Surfing Championship (ASC) points to all surfers and has teamed up with Garuda Indonesia as the official airline partner and GoPro as the official camera of the event.
